The Catholic University of Leuven (Katholieke Universiteit Leuven), founded in 1425, is the biggest university of the Lowlands, counting 57.000 students. The KUL has a whole lot of faculties, which can be divided in three big groups: Human Sciences, Science & Technology and Biomedical Sciences. Each faculty has its own students’ union which organizes many activities for the students. Besides Leuven, the university also offers courses in several other cities like Brussels, Antwerp or Ghent. The Academic Hospital is also part of the KUL.
